Taking the Test FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions Menu
+ How do I take my Test?
Please read the pamphlet in your box and the instructions in your collection device. You may collect your sample using the instructions provided to you in your Kit and in this instructional video. If you misplace them, find them here.
+ Do I need to be supervised while collecting my sample?
No. You may collect your sample using the instructions provided to you in your Kit and in this instructional video. If you have questions about collection or lab services, call the laboratory help line at 901-341-6464 or email info@p23labs.com.
+ How often do people mess up when taking the Test?
User error rates are less than 1%.
+ What happens if I lose the pamphlet in my box?
Print or view another one here. You will also find a Spanish version.
+ Where do I go to take the Test?
This is an at-home, unsupervised Test. You may take the Test in the comfort of your own home. Biotech Accelerated provides no physical location for you to take the test. It is recommended that you have a sink nearby so that you can wash your hands before and after collecting your sample.
+ Can I wait before taking the Test? Can I wait to send my Test after taking it?
There is a use by date directly on the tube label. All tests will have a minimum of a 3 month shelf life after they are purchased. Test Kits have a shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture, but you must check your use by date on your test tube.
DO NOT register your kit on our website until you are ready to take the test. We ask that you register the same day you take your test. Once you take your test, drop it off at a UPS Drop Off within 24 hours. Find your nearest UPS Drop Off location here.
+ What do I do if the liquid (reagent) inside the collection device spills?
It is unlikely that this liquid will spill, as it is only released into the collection tube once you close the large cap and hear a click. If you do spill the liquid, clean up the spill carefully and purchase a new kit by calling 800-884-2212. For more information about ordering another kit, click here.
+ What do I do if I accidentally get lipstick, food, or other substances into my collection tube?
Foreign substances are removed during the extraction phase, so a little bit of lipstick, food, blood, or a brownish tint from smoking should not affect your sample. Follow the instructions exactly, and do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum for 30 minutes before collection.
+ What do I do if I am having trouble figuring out how to take my Test or if I’m doing it properly?
Make sure you are carefully following the instructions in your kit. You may also click here or watch this instructional video for additional guidance. If you still have questions about collection or lab services, call the laboratory help line at 901-341-6464 or email info@p23labs.com.
+ What do I do after I take my Test?
After you've collected your sample and washed your hands, fill out the Lab Requisition Form. Then, put both the completed Lab Requisition Form and the closed specimen tube into the biohazard bag. Follow the packaging instructions carefully to return it to the lab. Find those instructions on page 3 of your pamphlet.
+ What is the Lab Requisition Form and why do I need to fill it out?
The Lab Requisition Form is the form inside your kit that says "Lab Requisition Form" on top. You must fill it out with information about the person taking the test, and this information must match any similar information you input during registration.
